Kendal is a lifelong resident of Prince George's County. His family has lived here for many generations and he continues to follow in their footsteps by working to build a better community. This county has helped shaped who he is today; from playing football at HMB (Hyattsville Mount Rainier Brentwood Boys Club) to going to church at First Baptist of North Brentwood to being active in the community for many years.
Throughout his life and career, Kendal has aimed to serve the community through in a variety of ways like serving as Treasurer for the Prince George's African American History Museum and Cultural Center; and helping civic associations attain their goals through scholarships programs. Kendal is running for County Council to utilize his passions, skills, and knowledge to make Prince George's County a place where everyone can thrive.
After graduating from Northwestern High School, Kendal attended and graduated from Strayer University in Washington, D.C. As a full-time college student, Kendal worked full-time as a janitor to put himself through college, which allowed him to learn and appreciate the value of the dollar. Currently, he uses this experience to understand the need for scholarship programs to help our youth and young adults be able to afford school.
In his career, Kendal worked as an accountant for the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) where he kept local organizations compliant with IRS & Department of Labor rules and he provided direct training for local treasurers. Kendal also worked as a Chief of Staff for a council member, in which he managed the office budget, the council member's staff, and oversaw constituent services. Kendal was also an auditor for the County, where he investigated fraud, waste, and abuse in our county budget. His experience in these areas allows him to understand the how to grow our county the right way and get the most value out of our tax dollars.
