Healthcare
In Prince George’s County we have healthcare disparities that must be addressed. I will work with the state, the hospitals, and developers to create Health Equity Zones (HEZ) that encourage healthy living and improve well-being. These zones will focus on maternal health, chronic illnesses, and cancer. Health Equity Zones will also strengthen communities, improve access to healthy food, and connect people to various healthcare services such as substance use treatment & recovery, behavioral health, and preventative services. I will also require Maryland National Capital Parks and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) to create interactive family fitness spaces to encourage healthy lifestyles where families can exercise together.
In addition, I will increase the number of medical professionals who live and work in our county by encouraging volunteer opportunities for youth and our retired workforce. Finally, I will create a Doctor Next Door Program to provide tax incentives to medical professionals who purchase homes in Prince George’s County.
